Far infrared type for home use Coffee Bean Roaster

The future of the application

Applications are constantly evolving. If you have an idea, you can incorporate infinite functions. At the moment, I have introduced only the basic functions, but I have many ideas that I would like to realize in the future. Applications are constantly evolving. If you have an idea, you can incorporate infinite functions.

At the moment, I have introduced only the basic functions, but I have many ideas that I would like to realize in the future.

For exsaample,

It would be nice if the displayed graph can be enlarged/reduced with a single click. Such a new function would make it easier to spot slight differences in the graph.

In order to reproduce the same taste as past roast results, it is necessary to match the roasting profile, especially the roasting end time. In this case, when the roasting end time approaches, it will be possible to notify with an audible alarm, count down to the end of the roasting by voice, or end the roasting automatically. In order to reproduce the same taste as past roast results, it is necessary to match the roasting profile, especially the roasting end time. In this case, when the roasting end time approaches, it will be possible to notify with an audible alarm, count down to the end of the roasting by voice, or end the roasting automatically.

It will be easier to determine when to finish roasting by visually comparing the condition of the beans with past photos. At this stage, the camera function of the mobile device will make a big difference in image looks due to external light and difference in the environment. In the future, I would like to insert a LED light and a small camera into the parching pan to shoot under the same conditions at all times. If this is achieved, it will be possible to project changes in beans in real-time on the mobile terminal at hand, even during roasting.

It is not easy in practice to clearly hear the sound of the 1st and 2nd crack. If a small microphone could be built into the drive box to capture the cracksound, it would be possible to automatically detect the 1- and 2- crack sounds and automatically mark them on the graph.

Ideas for how to improve the taste may emerge if you can keep notes of what you notice on the profile in progress at any time.
Also, if you can view the profile in progress with a remote friend and exchange comments and opinions, roasting will be even more enjoyable and ideas for improving the flavor will come to mind.

At present, temperature control is done by manual adjustment of the dial on the front of the heater, but in the near future automated control may be possible by help of PC, registering an ideal heating profile (heating temperature and heating duration)

Instead of entering numerical values for temperature and time to register the ideal heating profile drawn in one's head on a PC, it would be possible to automatically save the profile curve as a digital instruction by tracing it on the tablet or PC screen with a pen. Alternatively, it would be very helpful if the pointing device could be used to rewrite only the parts of the previous furnace file curves that need to be changed and save them digitally as is.

If the profile can be freely modified, it will be easier to create an ideal profile, and some people may create profiles based on ideas that have never existed before.

In the near further, the date for green beans will include not only the name of the beans and the weight of the beans to be roasted, but also the dimensions of the beans (length, width, thickness, density, moisture content, etc.), the name of the farm, the harvest year, hydration method, type of fermentation, and other data as far as it is known, together with the tasting results. By using AI technology, it is not a dream to create the optimal profile for unknown beans in a shorter time. Above all, the use of AI requires the accumulation of roasting data, so the realization of a machine that digitally records roasting data is urgently needed.

If the contents of the roasting software are made public and can be freely modified by anyone, volunteers may incorporate more useful functions. I hope that these software can be used freely by anyone. The more people with different backgrounds that come together, the easier and more attractive the software will be. If we can attract many enthusiasts, this dream will surely come true.
Several scientists have been investigated the chemical changes in beans during roasting and we obtained much knowledge. However, it is only entrance and the most parts are still behind curtain. The reason is that there are more than 600 kinds of ingredients contained in raw beans so that the real reactions are very complex and untraceable.

This time, I use only thermometer as a sensor, but if I got a small sensor that can measure CO2 or other components in the future, we should be able to investigate a step further.

I hope that my roasting machine can respond to the arrival of such an opportunity.
